Lumma Design Strikes Again with Uber-Aggressive Porsche Panamera CLR 700GT

Lumma Design Strikes Again with Uber-Aggressive Porsche Panamera CLR 700GT

If there's one tuning firm you that you can trust with your eyes closed that it will create a wild proposal out of any kind of vehicle it gets its hands on, that has to be Lumma Design. And sure enough, the German company doesn't disappoint its fans with its new, Porsche Panamera-based CLR 700GT sports saloon.

These first photos - or computer enhanced pictures, we're not entirely sure, show that Lumma Design has gifted the Panamera sports sedan with an ultra-aggressive wide body kit that includes a modified hood with air outlets, restyled bumpers, a rear diffuser that incorporates quad tail pipes and a large rear wing.

The chunky fender extensions that house the 22-inch alloy wheels finished in black with silver rims along with the new side skirts round off the cosmetic upgrades. Furthermore, the sport sedan's ride height has been lowered by a significant 35mm.

We're not aware of the mechanical upgrades yet, but if the tuning company's work on other Porsche models is any indication, the CLR 700GT will boast more than enough power under the bonnet.

Russia's TopCar Releases New Photos of Custom Porsche Panamera Stingray

Russia's TopCar Releases New Photos of Custom Porsche Panamera Stingray

We first told you about TopCar's performance program for the new Porsche Panamera way back in December 2008 when the Russian tuning house released an initial set of teaser sketches. Now, TopCar has published the first photos (though, keep in mind that the pics may be photoshoped) of its customized Porsche Panamera that is believed to make its first public outing at the forthcoming Essen Tuning show in Germany towards the end of November.

The tuning firm did not accompany the images with a press release, but from what we gather, the Panamera seen here is equipped with the basic bodykit dubbed 'Stingray' which has been designed by another Russian company called Cardi.

The carbon-fiber aerodynamics package includes redesigned front and rear bumpers, side skirts, a fixed rear wing and a new bonnet with air vents. The kit is rounded off by a new set of beefier alloy wheels.

According to a previous release, TopCar is also working on an even more aggressive bodykit that essentially replaces every external body panel of the Panamera aside from the rooftop.

It is also said that the Russians have joined forces with famed Porsche tuner 9ff which will handle all the performance upgrades as well as the production of both bodykits.

Porsche Panamera: Live Photos from Shanghai Auto Show

Porsche Panamera: Live Photos from Shanghai Auto Show

Pride of place on Porsche's stand is the new Panamera sports saloon that made its world premiere today at the Shanghai Auto Show. The five-door model that can seat up to four-passengers will compete head on with Aston Martin's forthcoming Rapide and the Maserati Quattroporte. The Panamera, which was penned by Saab's former chief designer Michael Mauer -now you know who to blame- will be initially offered with two 4.8-liter V8 engines producing 400 and 500HP. Sales are set to begin in most markets in the fall of 2009.

Porsche Panamera

Porsche Panamera

The Panamera has finally been unveiled as Porsche issued official details and photographs of its newest model a couple of days after a premature leakage gave us our first taste of the German firm’s sport sedan. The new four-seater Porsche Panamera gran turismo will be making its world debut at the forthcoming Geneva Motorshow in March 2009, and the first models will hit the company’s dealerships worldwide from late summer next year with an annual sales target of 20,000 units.

Conceived and designed as a four-door grand touring sports car, Porsche claims that the Panamera combines DNA from “the looks of a coupe, the unique interpretation of the classical saloon body, and the benefits of a versatile interior for an unmistakable appearance.” We’ll have to wait to see the vehicle up close for our final report, but we gather that the Panamera’s design will most probably ignite the same controversy as the German firm’s first-ever SUV, the Cayenne.
Porsche has yet to reveal any photographs of the vehicle’s interior, but according to the company, the cabin has been designed to cover “the needs and wishes of the driver” as well as offering occupants a “pilot sensation” from all four ergonomic seats. Not exactly very “Porschy”, but the Panamera is said to have a large luggage compartment capable of fitting all four passenger’s baggage. Furthermore, the Panamera features folding rear seat backrests that enable the driver and passengers to adjust the luggage space individually to their personal requirements.

The fourth Porsche model series that is actually a five-door liftback and not a four-door sedan, measures 4970mm (195.7in) in length, 1931mm (76.0in) in width and 1418mm (55.8in) in height, or somewhere between a BMW 5- and 7-Series.

Without giving any specific details, Porsche said that it will offer the Panamera with six and eight cylinders engine that range in power from 300 to 500 HP. Some of those engines will combine turbocharger technology and Direct Fuel Injection allegedly making them both fuel-efficient and powerful all in one. In 2010, Porsche will also enhanced the Panamera’s range with the presentation of a hybrid version.

The flow of power to the wheels goes either through a manual six-speed gearbox or Porsche’s new seven-speed PDK double-clutch gearbox. As with the 911, in addition to the rear-wheel drive variants, the Panamera will also be available with the firm’s all-wheel drive system.

Further details on the engines, transmissions, performance, prices and equipment will be disclosed in the spring 2009.
