Details : Renault’s Revival of the Alpine Sports Car

Renault’s Revival of the Alpine Sports Car

Renault declared late last year that they are planning the new Alpine sports car as a part of their goal of introducing 26 new prototypes to their lineup. The industry may take benefit of their association with the Nissan by placing the car on the smaller edition of the platform supporting a 350Z.

The Alpine car will be classed to fight against the Mazda MX – 5, however, not its larger, more powerful corporate cousin. By aiming the Alpine at the smaller, less powerful segment of a market, the industry hopes to maintain it efficient and affordable in terms of emissions and fuel.

The Alpine will produce about 220 horsepower from a 4-cylinder engine. Turbocharger would insert expense to car’s manufacturing, which could perform against industry’s low-price target. The RWD configuration and a 6-speed transmission are also supposed to be part of the bargain.More about Super Car Read more…

UK Drivers Slow Down as Fuel Prices Rise
While our fellow Texans are reacting to rising fuel prices by leaving their gas tanks empty (see report), in the UK drivers are slowing down on motorways to conserve fuel, according to a study performed by “Keepmoving”, a traffic information organization that monitors the speed of 230,000 vehicles fitted with sensors.

The study revealed that the average speed in free flow conditions on the M6 highway from Birmingham to Carlisle was seen to have experienced a 0.9% decrease in the first part of June 2008 compared to the same period in 2007 while the M25 was seen to have decreased by 0.3%. The organization said that whilst the decrease appears modest, it portrays a consistent picture across the UK where a cross-section of motorists are driving more slowly in order to conserve fuel. -More about Super Cars Read more…

iCar: When VW met Apple

Last year it became known that Apple and Volkswagen were in talks about the possibility of building an “iCar” that would be upgraded with a series of products from the producer of the omnipresent iPod. We’re not entirely sure whether or not these images from the latest issue of Autobild magazine are the result of a photoshop artist or if they are the real deal (less possible), but the iCar depicted here, sure looks like something that could have resulted from the cooperation between the two companies. –More Car Detail

Ronn Motor Company, Texas, USA has proposed a newest use of Hydrogen gas blended with the gasoline. They said that doing so can improve the fuel economy up to 17kmpl.

Even the better thing is, it can perform that for a 450 horsepower sports car that sprints from 0 to 60mph in about 3.5s and attains top speeds of 320 kmpl.More PICTURES

The car features the Acura 3.5L V6, generates 289 horsepower in its stock form and 450 horsepower in dual turbo configuration. The car will achieve an impressive 17kmpl fuel economy.

This is because of blend of hydrogen and gasoline in 4:6 respt. Hydrorunner, the hydrogen delivery system provides the hydrogen, which produces hydrogen directly from on board water tank holding 11.3L of water and just has to be refilled each 1600km. The hydrogen generation varies according to accelerator requirements.

GM Delivers First Chevy Malibu And Tahoe Hybrid Taxis to Dubai Goverment

Not that they’re facing any problems with gas prices in Dubai -or with anything that involves money for that matter, but GM delivered its first hybrid vehicles in the Middle East to the Government of Dubai and the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA). The Chevrolet Tahoe & Malibu hybrids are part of project that involves a 12-month trial using eco-friendly vehicles as public taxis.

Terry Johnsson, President of GM’s Middle East Operations, said “When the Dubai Government decided to investigate the feasibility of alternative propulsion systems in the Middle East, GM moved very quickly to support them. Naturally, we are very pleased to be part of such an historic and important project.”Read more…
